You may remember the small pallet trees I made a few weeks ago for a local craft fair. They were cute and perfect for indoor decor, but I wanted to create a large tree that I could sit outside our covered mudroom entrance. After cutting apart a pallet and nailing down a few boards to a piece of scrap wood I was left with a perfectly rustic (and free) pallet tree.
After I had the first layer nailed in place, I nailed down the second layer.
It only took about 10 minutes to cut all the boards off the pallet and into pieces with 45 degree angles. The hardest part was figuring out how I wanted to layer the pieces, thank goodness I had a cute assistant to help out. (He said he was building a snowman incase you couldn't tell, ha)
Once I was happy with how my tree looked I started nailing it together. I grabbed a scrap piece of wood to use as the "trunk" of the tree and attached the "branches" using a nail gun.
After I had the first layer nailed in place, I nailed down the second layer.
Then I added a strand of white lights and sat it just outside the mudroom door.
The addition of a few berries from a nearby bush finished off the tree and I had the perfect addition to our front porch.
