Anticipation

This time of year always gives a sense of anticipation for what is in store. Those special days when the sky is blue and the feeling of warmth on your skin, as you venture out of doors. The smell of green life under your finger tips as borders are dug and areas are tidied.

Today we have returned to default grey. A light drizzle in the air making me head back in doors, once again. But it has just been wonderful to have that special taste of new growth happening.

Walks on cliff tops have allowed a glimpse of nature. Just as well for most of the fields have now been swathed in their annual coat of plastic, keeping the Jersey Royals nice and toasty. Some say the fields look artistic with their sheets of white. For me it's a longing for the next couple of months to disappear and the unveiling of healthy green plants. Even the tiniest corner on this very small isle is plasticised, in a bid to achieve the biggest yield of potatoes. Not sure the bird population are any too happy as my feeders are emptying at a daily rate and I may need to buy shares in a fat ball company, the rate I seem to use them.

Saturday saw a meeting for a variety of environmental groups including the butterfly transect walkers. It was good to catch up on last year's findings and chat to like minded folk. Not long now until I will don my wellies once more and squelch through my field in the hope of a flutter or two. I'm hoping to see more Peacock butterflies this year as last year was a very sad one for them. So far I have spotted one Red Admiral on my travels. The local recycling centre of all places !

Later this week it's back to volunteering at The Georgian House for a Beatrix Potter day. I'm to be the Tailor of Gloucester, so need to hunt out the suitable outfit for him. There will be quizzes and stories and all things Peter Rabbit, so it should be fun.

Hopefully the sun will return very soon because one of my recent activities was to make a new pair of summer weight three quarter trousers, that need wearing. I would model them for you but the shock of seeing them with lilly white winter legs would not be pleasant. They're very ethnic and hopefully with the right top will work well. Definitely something to anticipate.

So how abut you ? What are you anticipating in the near future?

P.S. Wizard is clearly relishing the extra sunlight in the conservatory as are the orchid flowers.
